Mutual fund assets in Asia now exceed $1.5 trillion, and a
strong case can be made that they could reach $8 trillion in the
next five years. Japan, by itself, has provided $100 billion in
flows to external and international money managers since the
start of 2006. And in China, recent QDII international fund
launches reached their $4 billion per fund limit in a day.
“Investing in the Future” provides an in-depth view of the
fund management and distribution landscape across Asia,
along with analysis of opportunities in the Middle East
especially in relation to growing links between the regions.
This study makes use of our unique data on funds – we track
more than 20,000 local Asia funds and thousands more
offshore sold in the region – especially our data on net flows,
showing exactly what investors are buying in each market, with
detailed sub-advisory opportunities and makeup of select lists
for global and regional distributors. It also draws on many
interviews with CEOs and fund executives active in the region.
The study provides a thorough understanding of the details of
each market, local preferences, challenges and successes of
building local fund business and examples of new themes that
appeal to investors. It also discusses distribution details,
industry innovations, regulatory changes opening avenues for
local and international firms and even ideas for products and
themes that can be exported from Asia to other markets
worldwide.
This study is part of an expanding suite of global research services from Strategic Insight (SI), already assisting more than 50 of the world’s leading investment and distribution firms to identify and benefit from opportunities around the world. SI offers research, customized to your needs; Asia FlowWatch – monthly details by fund; summaries for over 20 key countries worldwide; and reports focusing on key industry developments.
